My ears have been listening to Kavanaugh’s half of the hearing on Thursday.
I am so clearly convinced that all the Republican defenders of Kavanaugh’s ordeal are helping to deflect the clarification of his history. Kavanaugh’s unhinged condition which was designed to compel us to believe his innocence, which is full of anger and rage at the difficulties these allegations have caused him, his family, and his reputation, does not read as the temperament of a Supreme Court Justice.
Mitchell dropped this little tidbit, that the state of Maryland has no statute of limitations on charges of sexual assault.
That means not only is his appointment in jeopardy, not only is his career threatened, but he also might be open to criminal prosecution as his behavior in Dr. Ford’s account does indeed fall within the definition of criminal sexual behavior. He committed a crime, and all four witnesses who have given statements saying that the gathering never happened because they witnessed it are also potentially vulnerable to criminal charges. Of course they are denying the gathering never happened.
My bet is on the coverup. Listening to Kavanaugh, he certainly reads like a guilty man who is terrified of having the truth of his behavior come out. He stands to lose everything he has built in his life.
The argument the Republicans and Kavanaugh keep dropping in is that this event happened in his teenage hood and therefore doesn’t his adult seemingly stellar reputation mitigate what he did so long ago? Ha. If he did it, and I think he did, he committed a crime. And his buddies who deny the gathering never happened were witnesses to that crime and are complicit in that crime.
The Republicans are taking up time arguing that the timing of the release of the details of these allegations somehow discredit the validity of the allegations. What horse shit. Deflect Deflect Deflect. Deflect.
He claims he at that time of his life had the beginnings of many lifetime relationships with great women. And that he never knew Dr Ford then.
Men who are prone to sexual assault do not assault women in their social circles. They prey on women who they feel are out of their social circles.
This is such an old story.
His goose is cooked.
This is textbook.
My Husband is incensed about all this “At what age do you expect a young man to be held accountable for his inappropriate sexual behavior?” I asked. He replied, “The first time his behavior causes discomfort to anyone else.”
Anyway, none of what I’ve said is news.
And the man cannot answer a question. Credibility? Ha.
Rain is coming, We have a lowering sky. The Field’s rimming trees are running golds, rubys, and yellows. Its a changing season.
Lots and lots of shifting going on.
