Tea With Me: 22nd September, 2018 Saturday

22nd September, 2018 Saturday

I dreamt my family last night. We were all gathered in an apartment somewhere for some sort of celebration. My two sisters and my mother and a baby of some undetermined origin. I am dispatched to The Zoo to pick up the Present for the celebration. I knew the route but somehow it had altered. Streets deadended into things. And that’s all that I remember.

Lady Princess Zoi went to Farmer’s Market once again today. The Market was located in a different lot today .

There is a woman on a horse with a running dog loping through our field and the dogs are sounding their alarm. The house is like a lookout tower and being the sighthounds that they are they see everything that goes on down in their field. And Wizard likes to bark. Its his job.

Wizard is Saluki and they are Bedouin bred for centuries and centuries. They trucked along the Silk Road with those caravans for many many eons. They are one of the four ancient breeds that all our hounds descend from. Its the reason Wizard’s gaze bespeaks of ages and it does. He is wise and locked into whatever’s going on.

Ah, they have settled down again.

Back to Farmer’s Market Day and Zoi conditioning. So Market was in a different spot because its Beerfest Day. Beerfest supersedes The Market for that prime location as it brings the tourists and their dollars in.

I had wondered how Her Ladyship would respond to the new view as the door to her chariot opened up before her. Remember she had trained me to treat her before she’d deign to leave the car. Well, no this time she hopped right out, and trotted by my side. And then a stop, oh yes my dear, there are two dogs sitting over there but here’s a treat, come on , lets go, and sure enough she did. Walked right on by.

We stopped at booths and trotted through the aisles. Two dogs trotted by and one of them shouted and ran toward her, Oh. But we just kept on trotting.

We visited with Sister and Brother Farmer at their veggie booth. I handed her to Husband who does adore her so. I then could gather vegetables to make that great dog stew. Husband walks her round a bit and then waits for me just outside the booth. Two dogs and their master come and say hello a bit. Zoi is not too sure of this as one dog wants to play. The other is real frisky and That just a bit too much. So Husband lets her stand and look but doesn’t ask her trot. He is aware she needs to look and feel ok just there.

I ask him for the leash and hand him bags of food. I encourage her to trot on by and then stand right in front of where those two dogs are and then she is just fine.

I take her to the honey booth and let her sniff the pollen bags which she almost gobbles down before I can stop her mouth. Good girl.

And then its time to trot on back to her chariot

I broke my nose a year ago and as the weather rolls, I feel it in that break in the middle of my face. Sometimes it makes me dizzy. I felt it there today. It was good to get back in the chariot.

Now anyone watching me talking to my Husband Dear about what Zoi needs as he holds her leash might assume I do not like him very much. He didn’t Dog before me, he horsed and had oh so many cats. But Dogs he did not know too much although he loved them too.

So sometimes when he has a dog that’s young and not too schooled, he doesn’t know just what to do and I lurch in at him because for me its always all about the puppy.

I can hurt his feelings oh so easily. I do not mean to, oh no I don’t, but pup needs the right way.

He felt it hard today as he chose to let Zoi stand and watch what stopped her in her tracks as opposed to encouraging her to just walk on by and so I took her by the leash.

We talked about it on the way back home.

We brunched and watched the Gorge’s celebratory squall ushering in its Fall. My inner squall has faded to my walls.

I just heard that dear dear friends just had to let their lovely Deerhound Lady pass. I am so very very sad for them. I met her once, and what a Lady, oh yes she was. A fine fine Lady Deer who won my heart as she laid across my bed warming it for me. She could not have had more love in life than with those loving people and their happy Deerhound family. We are sending Rainbows.

Ta.
